FAQ – 125A Dual-Circuit DC Protection Box

1. What exactly is a dual-line DC protection box used for? +
This box is an essential safety device positioned between your batteries and your hybrid inverter. Its ‘dual-line’ configuration allows it to simultaneously isolate and protect two independent battery banks or modules. It immediately cuts off the circuit in the event of a short circuit or overcurrent, thereby protecting your high-end batteries and your inverter’s electronics.
2. Which battery brands is this box compatible with? +
This universal protection box is specially optimised and certified for use with Delong lithium batteries and Leapton batteries. Generally speaking, it provides maximum protection for all battery technologies (LiFePO4, NMC, AGM, lead-acid or gel) operating on a direct current circuit up to 250V DC.
3. What cables and accessories are included in this turnkey kit? +
The kit is delivered 100% ready for use. The 35 mm² power cabling kit includes:
  • 4 battery cables, each 1 metre long, fitted with 35 mm terminals.
  • 2 battery cables, each 2 metres long, also fitted with 35 mm terminals.
  • All the necessary fixings, cable ducts and + / − distribution terminal blocks.
4. What type of fuse is used inside the box? +
The enclosure contains two 125 A automatic fuses rated for 250 V DC. They belong to class T, a category of very-fast-acting fuses with excellent current-limiting capacity, specifically recommended for the protection of high-energy-density lithium battery packs.
5. Why is a 35 mm² cable cross-section important? +
In low-voltage direct current (DC) systems, the flow of high power generates very high currents (amperage). A large cross-sectional area of 35 mm² allows continuous charging and discharging currents (up to 125A) to flow safely, whilst preventing the conductors from overheating and minimising energy losses due to voltage drop.
6. What precautions should be taken during installation? +
The enclosure must be securely fixed to the wall in the immediate vicinity of your battery bank. Before switching on the power, it is essential to meticulously check the polarity (+ and −) of your connections. Reversing the polarity on a DC circuit can cause irreversible damage to the inverter or the battery management system (BMS).
7. Why is it advisable to use a torque wrench for tightening? +
Inaccurate tightening of the battery or enclosure terminals is one of the main causes of failure. A connection that is too loose generates abnormal electrical resistance, causing arcing or hot spots that can melt the terminal blocks. Using a **torque wrench** ensures that the exact tightening torque recommended by your battery manufacturer is applied.
8. Is the cabinet expandable if I wish to add a third set of batteries? +
This model has a fixed architecture that is configured and wired strictly for two independent strings. If your installation is expanded in the future with the addition of a third independent battery bank, you will either need to add an additional single-channel protection box or opt for a distribution box or busbar of a higher rating.
