The Sofar Solar 5KTLM-G3-A is the most powerful model in the KTLM-G3 range for the single-phase residential market. With a nominal output of 5,000 W, it achieves a maximum efficiency of 98.4% — the highest in the entire KTLM-G3 series — and comes as standard with several features that are optional or absent on the 3.6KTLM and 4KTLM models: a built-in DC switch, a dual Type III PV and Type III AC surge protector, and a PV capacity increased to 7,500 Wp. Supplied with its Wi-Fi key and covered by a 10-year warranty, it is the go-to choice for residential installations maximising self-consumption, with a rated power precisely aligned with the Synergrid C10/11 limit for Belgium.
With a rated power of 5,000 W and a maximum AC power of 5,000 VA, the 5KTLM-G3-A meets the Synergrid regulatory limit for single-phase inverters in Belgium exactly (C10/11: maximum 5,000 VA per phase for grid feed-in). This is therefore the maximum power that can be installed in a single-phase system with grid feed-in in Belgium. The maximum output current is 21.7 A. For any Belgian residential installation where the aim is to maximise self-consumption and grid feed-in, the 5KTLM-G3-A is the benchmark model in the KTLM-G3 range.
The 5KTLM-G3-A supports a recommended total PV power of 7,500 Wp, distributed across 2 MPPT channels at a maximum of 3,750 W per MPPT. With 420 Wp panels, this equates to up to 18 modules in total (9 per MPPT). The PV oversizing ratio of 1.5 (7,500 Wp / 5,000 W) is optimal for maximising output at the start and end of the day and during the winter months, whilst limiting curtailment to only the hours of peak output in the height of summer.
The 5KTLM-G3-A achieves a maximum efficiency of 98.4% and a European weighted efficiency of 97.5% — figures higher than the 98.2%/97.3% of the 3.6KTLM and 4KTLM models, and significantly above the TL-G3 ranges (97.5–97.7% max). On a system producing 4,500 kWh/year, every tenth of a percentage point in efficiency represents approximately 4.5 kWh more per year — gains that accumulate over the 10-year warranty period and beyond.
The 5KTLM-G3-A features 2 independent MPPT trackers, each accepting 1 string and a maximum input current of 15A (short-circuit current rating 22.5A per MPPT). The MPPT range extends from 80 to 550 Vdc, with a maximum input voltage of 600 Vdc and a nominal voltage of 380 Vdc. The start-up voltage is 90 Vdc. The integrated I-V curve scanning function enables the MPPT algorithm to identify the true global maximum power point, even in the presence of partial shading that creates multiple local maxima. The two independent MPPTs allow two strings with different orientations or inclinations to be connected without cross-penalty.
Unlike the 3.6KTLM-G3 and 4KTLM-G3 models, where the DC switch is optional, the 5KTLM-G3-A featuresa DC switch as standard. This switch allows the DC current on the panel side to be cut off directly from the inverter, without requiring a separate DC disconnect switch in the switchboard. This offers practical advantages during installation (simplified cabling) and in terms of safety (simplified maintenance or emergency procedures).
The 5KTLM-G3-A incorporates a Type III DC PV surge arrester and a Type III AC surge arrester — a dual protection feature not found on the 3.6KTLM and 4KTLM models (DC surge arrester only). The Type III AC protection provides additional protection against surges from the mains supply, complementing the DC protection against surges on the panel side. This dual protection reduces the risk of damage to the inverter during thunderstorms or transient surges.
The 5KTLM-G3-A comes with a standard Wi-Fi dongle, allowing immediate connection to the SolarMan portal (iOS and Android app, web interface) upon commissioning. The integrated LCD screen and Bluetooth app also allow for on-site monitoring and configuration. Firmware updates can be performed remotely via Wi-Fi, without the need to visit the site.
Like all models in the KTLM-G3 range, the 5KTLM-G3-A is certified for operation at altitudes of up to 4,000 m — double the limit of the TL-G3 ranges. This certification is particularly useful for installations in mountainous areas where thin air can impair the cooling and performance of inverters not certified for these altitudes.
The 5KTLM-G3-A is cooled exclusively by natural convection — without a fan. Noise level below 25 dB. Night-time power consumption below 1 W. IP65 aluminium enclosure, 349 × 344 × 164 mm, 10 kg. The operating temperature range is -30°C to +60°C, with a humidity tolerance of 0 to 100% RH.
The Sofar Solar 5KTLM-G3-A is C10/11 certified. Its rated power of 5,000 VA corresponds exactly to the maximum limit authorised by Synergrid for single-phase inverters in Belgium. It is therefore the most powerful solution that can be installed in a single-phase system with grid feed-in in Belgium. It is also certified to VDE-AR-N 4105, G98/G99, EN 50549, IEC 0-21 and RD1699.
